1. Be informed when and where the conference call will take place - you would like to be prepared, which can help you to be punctual - nobody likes people, interrupting conference calls, because they are late. This can confirm a good impression as well, because being on time shows commitment. Punctuality is one of the most essential etiquette skills.
2. Always introduce yourself - and you need to speak clear and loud enough. Depending on the capacity of the meeting, you should mention the company and the department you represent.
3. Do not interrupt with questions, there will be a time after the conference call, or even during the call when you can present your questions or concerns. The person who facilitates the call will let everybody knows when is the appropriate time for questions and answers. In the mean time, take notes and be prepared when the time comes for your burning questions...
4. If you are by yourself in the room or in the office, make sure especially if you are not on a mute, not to make funny noises, eat or listening to music. Do not make disrespectful and rude remarks. You always need to be present and show respect to everybody who is involved in the conference call.
5. When you lead a conference call - you should establish a length for the call. If the initial decision is two hours, you should do your best to fit into the two hours time frame. If there is increasingly escalating discussion regarding a very hot topic, you should ask if the participants would like to stay longer, do not make it mandatory.
